Warehouse Equipment Inventory Control

Warehouse staff members are often responsible for functioning as an inventory control department. The function of inventory control is to receive all capital equipment and mark it with a district ID number before forwarding to the school/site location.

State requires a fixed asset inventory control system for items over $500.00.

As a capital equipment item is received in the warehouse, staff members verify the item received with the purchase order to assure it was ordered. A district ID number is assigned and attached to the item. Some Districts mark the ID number by stenciling the ID number on the equipment. Warehouse staff members fill out the inventory record card with all pertinent information. If a computerized data base for fixed assets is used, the inventory record card is forwarded to the appropriate section for inputting usually to Purchasing.
